Mrs. Hermine Metcalfe

Hermine Metcalfe is a registered pharmacist, a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica and The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. She is a graduate of the College of Arts Science and Technology, Kingston Jamaica and Brighton Polytechnic, Sussex England. She has extensive pharmaceutical experience in the public and private sectors including retail pharmacy, the distributive trade, pharmaceutical industry, teaching, government hospital pharmacy and pharmacy administration.


She has held positions as Chief Pharmacist of the Kingston Public and Victoria Jubilee Hospitals, assistant to the Director of Pharmaceutical Services in the Ministry of Health, Caribbean Regional Supervisor and District Manager for international pharmaceutical companies.


Mrs. Metcalfe is the Chairman of the Academic Advisory Committee on Pharmacy, University of Technology; Chairman of the Ethics and Standards Committee of Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica (PSJ); former chairman of the Pharmacy Council.

Other involvements include:

  • Active member of the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston: Distinguished President, (1993/1994)

  • Member: Rheumatoid Arthritis Association and Jamaica Association for Midlife Health

  • Active member of the Stella Maris Church Advisory Council: Former Chairman of Council

  • Coordinator: Friends of St. Monica’s Home for the Abandoned Elderly

  • Member: Friends of St. Pius Church

  • Member: Alpha Alumnae Association

  • Member: Management Committee at current residence
